Groundbreaking at Turtle Mountain Transfer Station

TF Powers Construction broke ground on a $2.2 million project on the Turtle Mountain Indian Reservation in Belcourt, ND, in June. The project includes construction of a solid waste transfer station, maintenance building, and recycling canopy. New utilities and site development are also included in the project.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the project was Wednesday, June 20 at the solid waste facility. Excavation began just after the groundbreaking ceremony.

TF Powers VP/Project Manager Rob Ehnert and Field Superintendent Pat St. Denis were in attendance. They will be managing the project from the office and job site.

According to an article in the Turtle Mountain Times, “the location is staying the same but the station itself will be much bigger, bolder, and environmentally safer. And not just for the present, but for many generations to come.”

Funding for the project came from Indian Health Service Sanitation Facilities Construction and USDA Rural Development Rural Utility Services.
